Above All I Learned About Myself

Valeria Lopez Salazarby Valeria Lopez Salazar

With eyes closed, I attempted once more to decipher the incomprehensible tapping of my partner. He grows impatient at my inability to guess what, in his mind, is an obvious song.

Though, despite his continued efforts, I failed to name the song, the seemingly strange exercise did teach me that “I have a unique song in the world” – a song that the StrengthsFinder workshop helped me recognize and value.

Throughout the day, I learned how to best use my strengths in the career world – how to tailor my resume to showcase my abilities, and how to weave them into a job interview conversation. Above all, I learned about myself - the most important thing a leader can and should learn. In order to service the community at large, I must first be able to identify my strengths. After a day of workshops and talks, I am better prepared to assume a leadership position in the world.
